Things to do in the Antelope Valley

So many times the question is asked: What is there to do in the Antelope Valley?

Are there things to do in Palmdale? Are there things to do in Lancaster, California?

The answer is a resounding YES.

There's a wealth of places to go, things to do.

Let's start with Palmdale.

In the summer, when it's sizzling hot, escape the heat two ways. One is the Dry Town Water Park, 3850-B East Avenue S. It's open daily through Labor
Day Weekend from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. In addition to the 30-foot water
slides and other exhilarating twists and turns for the adults and older children, there is a section of the park set aside for children under 12.

For things to do in Palmdale consider the "coolest" outdoor summer activity. Take the whole family to the City of Palmdale's Thursday Night on the Square at Poncitlan Square, 9th Street East between Avenue Q-9 and Q-10. This free event celebrates all the best of living in the high desert. Each Thursday beginning with the first Thursday in July from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. you'll stroll through an open air market, enjoy live entertainment, view unique arts and crafts, and be able to buy tasty food from local vendors.

Among the things to do in Palmdale are the free Starlight Concert Series at the Palmdale Amphitheater at Marie Kerr Park, 2723 Rancho Vista Boulevard.

Among the things to do in Lancaster, CA., is the chance to make memories of an old timey summer as part of the Celebrate Downtown Lancaster events.
There's always an ice cream social and screening of a silent film as well as vendors, musicians and other entertainment. For information: 723-6260.

If you like things to do outdoors in Lancaster, check on the bird watching walks at The Prime Desert Woodland Preserve, located at 35th Street West and K-8. For information, call 723-6230.

Among the things to do in Lancaster in the fall is the wonderful schedule of visiting artists at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center. There's a variety of local production too in Lancaster, CA., including musicals and the Antelope Valley Community Concert series.

 

In Palmdale, the Palmdale Playhouse offers a wide variety of programs as well.

When you're looking for things to do at Edwards Air Force Base, consider the free bus trips conducted the first and third Fridays. You'll visit the Edwards AFB Museum, NASA and the Edwards AFB flight line. They welcome children.

While you're looking for things to do in Rosamond, don't forget the Exotic Feline Compound nor the "fastest road in the west" at Willow Springs Racetrack.
